Hewt
The Boiling Blooded
Hewt's skin is coated in deadly toxins, keeping them safe from potential predators. When they feels threatened the red spots on their skin will shimmer, and when angered its mouth will foam with boiling saliva and ready itself to spit in the eyes of the enemy. They only act aggressively out of fear; a cornered Hewt will let out high pitched whimpers.
They spend much of their lives right below the surface of the bayou, waiting for unsuspecting insects to land. While difficult to see, their warm bodies radiate the water and air around them. Hewt are quite tasty, when their toxins are removed or neutralized they become the favorite food of many marshland predators.
