Rockuma - The Roaring Delinquent

A juvenile with titanic power, Rockuma are the gangsters of monsterkind. They form gangs made of family members and trusted friends to compete with their rivals. These monster gangs adhere to a strict pecking order; when this order is disrupted hell will breaks loose. The lowest, hungriest Rockuma may desperately look for ways to rise in rank.
Personalities and Behaviors
Rockuma are notorious for their territorial behavior. Males are especially known for aggression as they will attack monsters and people careless enough to cross their path.
Gangs of Rockuma form a hierarchy with the largest, loudest members being the highest ranked. Members tend to be males who have rebelled or have been expelled from their nests after reaching their juvenile stage. Many gangs are formed from siblings and friends around the same age.
Each member of the gang has a role. The smallest members are foragers, medium sized members fish and hunt, and the largest members patrol and mark their gang’s territory to intimidate rivals and other monsters.
A healthy gang will see its leaders protecting smaller members and making sure meals are divided fairly. However, without structure however the weakest Rockuma may find themselves being starved and bullied.
History and Culture
Because of Rockuma’s aggression, travelers have designed routes to reduce chances of encountering these creatures.
However those who are gutsy may find sport in hunting Rockuma; only the best hunters will find success and they may claim the monster’s hide as a proof. In many cases hunters will see failure or even death.
Abilities
Rockuma’s great strength makes up for their lack of magic abilities. Taking a direct hit from their powerful claws can shatter bones. They leave a burst of wind with each swipe.
Despite their hefty appearance, Rockuma are great climbers. They can safely descend from trees by using their wing-like arms to slow their fall. Rockuma can also use their arms chop down small trees and carry around logs to use as tools.
Rockuma puts their loud voice into use in combat. Anyone caught in the range of Rockuma’s powerful roar will be knocked back by its sheer force.
Ecology
These creatures prowl the lowlands of the forest. Rockuma makes their mark by slashing tree bark and knocking down small trees with their powerful arms. A gang of Rockuma will leave a trail of destruction as they patrol their territory.
Few monsters are able to compete with Rockuma’s strength; wise monsters avoid their presence entirely.
In rare instances gangs of Rockuma and be spotted in the outskirts of human towns and villages. There have been reports of Rockuma invading homes and caravans. It is believed these creatures are attracted to the smell of cooked foods and they live nearby humans for access to food.
Diet
Rockuma are omnivorous creatures but they have a preference for fresh fish. In the early morning Rockuma can be found catching savory fish in the rivers of the forest.
However, being the bullies they are, Rockuma has no issue with taking food from other monsters. Large Rockuma will even resort to coercing rival Rockuma for their meals.
